Positron production due to interaction of cosmological background photons

Abstract:

The interaction of photons of the cosmological background radiation with producing electron-positron pairs is considered. It is shown that main input in positron production is given by interaction of cosmological gamma-ray background photons with photons of extragalactic background light, although taking into account the interaction of cosmological gamma-ray background photons with cosmological ultraviolet background photons may substantially increase the pair production rate.
