Abstract:

The authors assume that cells adsorbed on drops can experience an excessive metabolism of a hydrophobic substratum and the process emits intermediate products of oxidation to increase mitochondrial and cytoplasmic membranes permeability, separate oxidizing phosphorylation process, raise consumption for maintenance of vital functions and increase energy dissipation. This mechanism is similar to maintenance of temperature in cells of warm-blooded animals brown fat running into hibernation.
