Simulation of operational scenarios for a system mitigating the consequences of a discharge disruption in the TRT tokamak
This paper presents the results of numerical simulation of the temporal evolution of the plasma current and runaway electron (RE) current suppression in the tokamak reactor facility during a tokamak disruption using the injection of tungsten collectors absorbing REs. The efficiency of methods of the RE current suppression was compared using the collector injection and massive injection of working gas — deuterium. A zero-dimensional approach was used to solve a system of two differential equations for the plasma and RE currents, taking into account RE losses on the tungsten collector that occurred during their passage through the plasma at the discharge current quench stage. The simulation results showed that the most promising disruption mitigation system is a combined one, which initiates the injection of argon or deuterium in the intended disruption scenario and injects argon and three massive (230 g) collectors at velocities of 450 m/s in the unintended disruption scenario.
