      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>The paper examines various modes of laser polishing of stainless steel surface to decrease a surface roughness for creating model micro-grooves corresponding to the elements of the microfluidic topology. The effect of the formation of an oxide film and its effect on the roughness of the treated area is considered as well. The data obtained is confirmed by measurements using a profilometer.</p>
