        <p>A circuit for controlling the discharge current of an MPD accelerator based on the Morgan circuit is considered. It is shown that theoretically operation regime of the accelerator, depending on the parameters of the circuit, can be  stationary, modulation, and pulsed. The necessary condition for the accelerator operation in the periodic mode is established. Calculations of the pulse shape of the discharge current are carried out. The experimentally observed pulse forms are compared with the calculated ones.</p>
