This article is a review and contains a brief description of the current state of research in the field of AD. The special attention is paid to the calcium hypothesis of AD, which is getting more popular and is an alternative hypothesis in relation to the dominant amyloid hypothesis of AD. The assumption of possible pathological pathway that takes place in AD is made basing on published and preliminary data.
